Teams from Wales, Scotland and England have confirmed their participation in An Post Rás na mBan in September as entries start to stream in for the County Clare-based event.

Welsh representatives Abergavenny Road Club will return to the event with a strong team of five riders as they chase team and overall honours.

The South Wales club, which is active in all aspects of cycle sport and has become an important focal point for developing talent, finished second team overall and third overall in the individual classification in 2012 with Lowri Devey (neé Bunn).

Meanwhile Edinburgh RC will also be sending riders to Ennis with Peggy Series and Claire Louise Martin already confirmed on their roster.

Nominally from the other end of Britain, the GB Cycles squad draws its riders from all over the island with Helen McKay of Suffolk and Yorkshire’s Iona Sewell joining Karen Poole and guest riders in a strong selection.

All squads are firming up their entries as the event draws closer. The change of base to Ennis, Co Clare and the new variety of stages including a Team Time Trial and a criterium stage have added to the interest with teams from nine different countries already confirmed for September.

Further team details will follow soon.
