The organisers of An Post Rás na mBan are delighted to announce that the highlights programme of the 2013 event will be broadcast on Setanta Sports TV in January.

The event, raced over five days in County Clare last September, was the biggest and most successful in the 28 year history of international women’s bike racing in Ireland featuring riders from 13 countries representing teams from ten different nations.

Four current national champions rode the race which also included several riders honing their fitness ahead of the world road race championships in Tuscany.

The race was comprised of six separate stages over five days including four road stages, a circuit race and a team time trial. The riders raced on some of the most scenic roads in Munster in a series of epic encounters with the destination of the final pink leader’s jersey in doubt right to the end of the final stage.

Setanta Sports will broadcast the half hour programme for the first time on Tuesday January 14th at 6pm with three further transmissions currently scheduled.

The schedule is as follows:

1st Airing 14/01/14 18.00
Repeat 16/01/14 08.00
Repeat 18/01/14 16.25
Repeat 19/01/14 10.30

Setanta Sports, Ireland’s leading premium sports broadcaster, is widely available across satellite, UPC and Eircom broadband. Setanta is also available on satellite in Northern Ireland.

Event organiser Valerie Considine expressed her delight that the 2013 race is being brought to a wider audience.

“As we get ready for the 2014 Rás na mBan it’ll be nice to pause and reflect on the success of last September’s edition and it’s wonderful that Setanta are bringing the race to a new audience in Ireland.

“It’s a lovely film which really captures the challenge and beauty of the event and the truly epic scenery it travels through.”
